After his seminal genre-bending years-in-the-making classic-meets-electronic album ‚Mahler‘, Berlin-based composer Hellbach took a different approach on his first solo EP ‚Allein in deinem Himmel‘ (Alone In Your Heaven). The release contains two instrumental pieces, both of which were written and recorded in one frantic session on the same day. Whereas ‚Allein in deinem Himmel‘ is a short introspective piano piece comparable to the likes of Nils Frahm, Eric Satie or Marc Hollis, the second ,Allein in deinem Lied’ (Alone In Your Song) is a near 11-minute epic in the vein of ambient works by Brian Eno or Global Communication.

'The songs are about grief and hope, about loss and salvation. There is nothing edited or re-recorded. For me, it is musical expression as unfiltered, raw and pure as it can possibly be. It‘s a tribute. It‘s a farewell.'

Nach dem genreübergreifenden Klassik-trifft-Elektronik-Album „Mahler“, das über mehrere Jahre hinweg entstand, entschied sich der Berliner Komponist Hellbach bei seiner ersten Solo-EP „Allein in deinem Himmel“ für einen gänzlich anderen Ansatz: Beide Instrumentalstücke wurden an einem Tag in einer einzigen intensiven Session geschrieben und aufgenommen. „Allein in deinem Himmel“, ist ein kurzes, introspektives Klavierstück im Stil von Nils Frahm, Eric Satie oder Marc Hollis. Das zweite „Allein in deinem Lied“, ist dagegen ein knapp 11-minütiges Werk, das an Ambientstücke von Brian Eno oder Global Communication erinnert.

„Die Kompositionen handeln von Trauer und Hoffnung, von Verlust und Erlösung. Nichts wurde verändert oder nachträglich bearbeitet. Ich wollte den reinen, ungefilterten musikalischen Ausdruck festhalten. Es ist eine Hommage. Es ist ein Abschiedsgruß.“
